Introduction: Status of women and gender balance is not appropriate in SOUTH DELHI District. In spite of Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC & PNDT) Act, 1994, which bans determination of the sex of the foetus. The sex ratio in SOUTH DELHI District is continuously decreasing. There are cases of foetus death in the District. It is the sensitive matter for the people of district. District administration is quite aware and conscious about this matter. They are committed to the implement act effectively. There is need to intervene the chain of referrals and to ensure prompt and regular public pressure and media advocacy
The PC & PNDT Act is being implemented through the State/UT Governments through the Appropriate Authorities appointed at the State/ District level. We still need to create positive environment so that gender balance is maintained in the society. NGOs have to play an important role for effective implementation of the PC & PNDT Act.
Being a backward district and the state capital people have easy access to the chain of referrals, which is directly affecting the status of sex ratio in SOUTH DELHI District. People in the district are diverting for determination of sex ratio. This in turn affects the status of gender balance in the district. There is need to work for proper implementation of Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC & PNDT) Act, 1994 in the district.
Project Objective: To involve field functionaries & Panchayats for early registration of frequencies & improved birth registration.
Eligibility:
· It is registered Society
· Has experience of working for three years on Gender issue as mentioned in progress report
· Has human resource base with required Qualification & experienced as given in profile
· Has an office premise in the State – C-35-A,RAJPUR KHURD Extension,new delhi-110074
· District office will be started after approval in south delhi
Mission: To ensure the decrease in determination of the sex of the foetus.
PNDT Committee:
District level committee will be formed in consultation with the Appropriate Authorities under the act. Committee will implement, monitor and review the progress during the implementation. NGO will coordinate the implementation of scheme.
Activities:
Awareness Generation: Regular efforts will be made to organize following activities to build positive environment for the better implementation of Act. It will also ensure the active participation of people for creating positive environment for improving the present sex ratio status.
Meetings –Meetings will be organized at the block levels and identified panchayate as per the need. Regular meetings will be held to plan review and solve the problems occurred during the project period. It will also provide an opportunity to react and discuss on the obstacles on the way. It will be a platform to built positive vision.
IEC activity-These will be organized effectively to motivate the different partners in the society and to build positive vision for improving the gender balance in the district. IEC material will be developed as per the requirement of the district. Film show, meetings and distribution IEC material will be regular feature of IEC activity.
Exhibition – It will be organized to share history and future strategy of sex ratio. Publications, photographs, case studies, audiovisual collections and media coverage’s will be the part of exhibition. It will have better impact on the visitors to think for the effective implementation of act.
Capacity building: Training will be imparted to stakeholders to ensure their active participation. Information about the rule of act and processes to be followed for its use and monitoring mechanism will be shared. Capacity of the stakeholders will be consolidated to fight against the problem. Better vision will be developed among the participants to ensure the successful implementation of Act. It will be also a platform to share experiences and take concrete decisions for the effective implementation of act.
Workshop: Two workshops will be organized to develop positive vision among the stakeholders. Strategy will be developed to ensure the gender balance and decrease determination of sex ratio in south delhi district. Participants will get an opportunity to make strategy for the better implementation of act. Experts and authorities on act will be an important part of workshop. It will also provide an opportunity for ensuring linkages for better environment building.
Desk appraisal :Intervention will be regularly watched and analysis will be done to maintain the pace of the progress in positive direction. Case studies and models will be developed. Documentation of the progress will be reviewed regularly. It will be done to ensure the positive direction of the environment built.
Results of the on going experiences will be used as recourse material to used to motivate others. Exposure to media will be regularly maintained. Necessary recommendations to the government will be sent regularly. TOR will be followed and reports will be submitted as per the TOR.

· Documentation will be done regularly.
· Financial reports will be made available to PNDT division regularly
· NGO will follow the TOR
· Any diversion form TOR will be discussed in advance with PNDT division
